Perspectives In Crime Prevention

Achieving and maintaining institutional security cannot be accomplished with a single effort. A solid foundation of knowledge and continuing efforts are needed to deter crime. Traditional police practices are reactive and have not proven effective in the prevention of criminal activities. The discipline of Crime Prevention (CP) fills the void that existed in the reactive side of law enforcement. The Crime Prevention practitioner requires specialized information in a variety of topics to be truly effective in the 21st century. This course will give students the knowledge, and more importantly, the new perspective needed to effectively implement preventive measures in
ever changing situations.
